About

Max Eugeni is an Artist from Merseyside (b.2000) his work explores forms of experience, questioning the paths that connect us to the world around us. 

He is interested in deconstructing his own perception to expose its fragility, stripping experiences back to the patterns in which he processes them; biases determine scale, time determines detail, and feeling determines focus. Print, Collage, and Sculpture are tools he uses to try and understand these processes; in these mediums he finds changeability, repeatability, and relationality, qualities that contribute to a dynamism he deems inherent to thinking, perceiving, and understanding.

Drawing from moments of deep presence or elevation from the everyday he aims to reach the core or minimal units of experience, and then reconfigure and combine them into evolved models of said experiences. He therefore positions seeing as an uncertain terrain, one that is constantly shifting and redefining the world around us. Through a combination of intuitive and controlled processes he leaves a sufficient amount of freedom in the development of the patterns that form merely acting as a guide for the infrastructure to take shape, breeding systems both known and newly found. 

His paper dyeing process introduces colour purely intuitively with emotion at the forefront, collagraph introduces texture in an unpredictable manner allowing the materials to dictate the topography of the work, and finally collage acts as a conscious driver, a conversation between the artist and the developing environment.

Eugeni has recently graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Print and is now part of The Old Fire Station Collective based in Port Sunlight, Merseyside. Exhibiting since 2022 he has shown at a number of independently run and larger mixed exhibitions. Most notably the ECC Venice Biennale, Royal College of Art Graduate Show, Manchester Art Fair, and the Independent Biennial.
